Shakti Peethas

Shakti sacrificed herself at her father King Daksha's yaga. Lord Shiva started dancing with her body. The world was devastated because of Shiva's anger. In order to stop this penance, Lord Vishnu cut up Shakti's body using his Sudarshan Chakra. The body parts fell all over ancient India.  These places are called Shakti Peethas. Now these temples are located in India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal and Sri Lanka.

  1. isn't it strange that so many Shakti Piths are in Bengal?
I'm suspicious. Think the list was compiled by a Bengali only

  2. Hi Injamaven, I had that doubt. Unfortunately there is no proper documentation about Shakti Peethas. Based on the evidences so far available, people are composing their own Shakti peethas list. There are many different list of Shakti peethas available. I took the reference of the one I thought it's close enough.
